Many possible categorizations of life quality indicators are observed in the conceptual literature and also in practical applications. Recently most often objective and subjective approaches and respective measures are being integrated and used simultaneously. Research based on single case studies is the most frequent. Thus this article refers to the problem drawing on the assumption that research on quality of life and ways of its improvement still lacks greater conceptualizations which are necessary and expected to be useful when applied in the spheres of strategic development planning at the local place (i.e. regional level) in order to align socio-economic development strategies with the quality of life improvements initiatives. The discussion in the article aims to conceptualize a model that would help to approach the socio-economic development from the point of view of quality of life in any particular context, first of all considering the contextual characteristics, according to which a system of social indicators would be elaborated, the issues determining quality of life measured and identified, issues and inadequacies addressed in the socio-economic development strategies.Downloads
