Abstract

The article presents qualitative Family mapping method. Four characteristics are distinguished: visualization of individual conceptualizations, combination of verbal and non-verbal information, triangulation within the method, creative participation of an individual. The Role mapping method is introduced as a modification of the Family mapping method. Two research studies, conducted using the Role mapping method, are presented. The first discloses the role making process in families under migration, whereas the second focuses on the constructed nature of TV programs about emigration.
