Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyse the specific features and sponsorship of health care systems of the United States and France to identify potential alternatives for the reformation of Lithuanian health care system. The research is based on two most popular health care financing systems applied in the practice of the United States and France; it can be useful improving Lithuania health care system financing situation. The article employs the data from research sources and statistical data of health care system financing practice in the United States and France. The research indicates that improving the Lithuanian health care financing system voluntary health insurance has to be stimulated and personal responsibility for health should be developed since the present restricted changes, obsolescent society and the increase of various cases of chronic diseases influence the growing health care system’s expenses which cannot be financed only on the basis of social health insurance fees.
