Abstract

The article discusses the relevance of a multicultural perspective for Management Science (MS) education in an increasingly culturally diverse world context. Embedding MS education in such a perspective should help teacher effectiveness not only in dealing with students' cultural diversity but also in taking into account cultural variables that interfere with the modelling and the implementation of MS model in real life organizations. Theoretical issues and a framework for MS education in a multicultural perspective are discussed in the article. It then analyses the extent to which such an approach has had any impact in the syllabuses of MS education in the main Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It discusses the challenges and possibilities in developing multicultural sensitivities in MS education and suggests ways ahead in order to boost it.
